Sidewalk Chalk

Went out to Target and bought a box of Crayola sidewalk chalk for my daughter to scribble outside. Before just grabbing the cheapest Target brand ones I decided to do a research on how safe are chalks since I know there is a high possibility of my daughter putting these in her mouth. After researching, the good news is that it seems like a pretty safe item to accidentally eat (Crayola Sidewalk Chalk is a molded chalk made of Plaster of Paris and color pigments.), the bad news is I found some articles saying that certain cheap brands including a previous Target brand were recalled before due to finding lead in them. Lead, I am so not surprised, nowadays you can find lead and other toxins in almost everything. Why can't we just have strict standards and safe practice so no one has to go through all this research before buying. :( Well, it seems that the safest bet is to buy the big brand name, so I went with Crayola, even though cost slightly more, but well worth the risk I think. On the side note, I do see places that sell organic vegan and edible chalks for kids, however, since my daughter doesn't usually mouth things that much anymore, I didn't feel the need to go that extreme.
My daughter loved drawing on the sidewalk and immediately picked up another new word, "draw." Here is my little Picasso working on her master piece:

And here is her trying to blow on the dandelion:

The chalk washed off easily afterwards with a hose, the stains on the clothes came off easily too. :)
