Ardenwood Historic Farm

This nice little gem in Fremont is definitely a great place to visit with kids. There are farm animals, actual organic farming, train ride, and Patterson house museum with Victorian garden in there. It is also a good place to teach your kids about how the old farming and blacksmith equipments worked and transition to modern day equipments. And since it is a working farm, they have different activities and harvest each season. We went on a Saturday, admission on that day was only $2 per adult, we can definitely afford more visits here. That day when we lined up to get admission, we notice that everyone in the line were holding a bucket or basket, except for us, which made us feel a little bit stupid :p, then we found out that they have bunch of blackberry bushes for picking fresh blackberries, and I think it is free too. Even though we did not bring a bucket, but we went ahead and picked some to eat on the spot, my daughter loves to eat fresh berries, she has been picking on our strawberry and blueberry bushes at home all the time, we had to pick these for her, since blackberry bushes have a lot of thorns.

Patterson House:

They have sheep too:

And yay, my daughter picked up yet another new spoken word that day, which is "chicken." She use to just call them birds, but after this trip she started to differentiate, but she also started to call the turkey and peacocks there "chicken" also. (Yes, they have peacocks roaming free too)
