My Daughter Knows Her Alphabets

I suspect she recognized all the alphabet letters way before 18 months, but recently, she is able pronounced all of them to me, and the surprising thing is, she knows both upper and lower case. I am teaching her phonics though, so she will not pronounce the name of the letters, but actually the sound the letter makes. This is supposed to give kids a better understanding of how the alphabets work to create words. I actually started out playing a little bit of YouTube videos of abc phonics everyday to her. The videos were really short usually lasting no more than a couple minutes and I would sing along, so the learning is really only that short a day, because I really don’t want to park her in front of a screen too long, and occasionally I would hear her trying to sing the tunes. When we are outside and she sees signs, she would point to certain letters she can pronounce and make the sounds. My friend also got her some fridge magnets for her on her birthday and it was her favorite toy for the longest time. I would help her and point to the letters and make the phonics sound, I would ask her which letter makes certain sound and she would point to the correct one. The letters she would read out loud started to increase day by day, and officially now I have heard her pronounce all of them. Isn't it amazing how fast these little brains learn? Now I only have one problem, I am not sure if my daughter understands English though since I mainly speak Chinese to her. I guess I won’t be able to show her how these letters can be put together to form a word yet until she understands English, I am hoping she is also picking the language up from daily life and classes.

Next goal: numbers, shapes, and color.
